In the first semester of the 2021/22 academic year, "Real-life Business" was held in English for the 3rd time, in cooperation with Debrecen Business Service Centers. During the 14 weeks we introduced the students to what "Business Service Center" means and how to build a career in it.
Every week we touched on different topics that are fundamental in the BSC sector. In the last class of the semester, we decided to hold an HR Workshop for the students. Four HR specialists provided students with useful advice on three topics (CV consulting, rapid interview and rapid career counselling) to make sure that when entering the Labor market as a recent graduate they easily find their way to their future careers.
On topics chosen by the students, they were given the opportunity to make their CVs as attractive as possible, for which they received useful advice. They were able to experience what it would feel like to participate in an in-person interview. Throughout the career counselling, we provided constructive tips on their questions. This semester made personal contact possible, so we were able to help students who arrived to this final moment with CVs and questions, perhaps even more efficiently. It was interesting to see how students of different nationalities incorporate elements of their own culture into the Hungarian working environment.
We were delighted that most of them see their future in Debrecen, Hungary. Their English proficiency is at a high level, which is a crucial entry requirement in the BSC sector. By the end of the workshop, we were aware that not only the students but we had also learned and gained experience that we could effectively incorporate into our future courses, and, therefore, bring the specifics of the sector even closer to students. We hope that students found the classes as useful and constructive as the lecturers themselves.
