I'll try and do Juliet Mitchell's article: "From Hysteria to Motherhood: The Hysterical Woman or Hysteria Feminized" next week.

|Thanks, Eszter, got it. |
Andi? Anything for next week, then, perhaps???
|Dear Mad Group!|
I'll take week 14 then, Ania Loomba's "Psychoanalysis and Postcolonoal Subjects".

|Ádám, bocs, most látom, h hajnali 4-kor jelentkeztél be -- ez azért kicsit vicces A touch of madness?|
|Séllei Nóra||2010-02-16 08:29:59|
|Well, good idea, isn't it? |
Anyway: thanks for the responses so far -- the course is getting shape. As the number of participating students got reduced radically while I was not at home (was it the look of the syllabus???), perhaps it would not be bad if the presentations were spread out more or less equally. So far it is perfect.
So Andi, Eszter, if you could choose a text for weeks 3 and/or 14, that would mean that at each class we would have one presentation. But if you really wanted to do something else, please, go ahead: two presentations per class are still OK (three perhaps could be too much -- check the others' choices). If you allow me to orient you just a bit (but no pressure):I would really like to have at least one presentation for week 3 as for that class we do not have any literary text (though Freud will tell us a very interesting story -- almost like fiction).
See you all in the afternoon.
I would like to choose Laura Mulvey's “Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema” and “Afterthoughts on ‘Visual Pleasure and narrative Cinema’” on week 12.
(A working forum topic at last )
All the best,
|Hi Everyone, |
I'd like to have my presentation on Felman, Shoshana. “Women and Madness: The Critical Fallacy” on week 5.
I would like to choose
Gilbert, Sandra M., Susan Gubar. “A Dialogue of Self and Soul: Plain Jane’s Progress” (week 12).
|Garabuczi Kata||2010-02-12 13:56:14|
|Hi everyone, |
I chose Laing's text, “The Embodied and Unembodied Self” for my presentation on week 7.
|Kovács Kriszti||2010-01-24 12:09:23|
I misunderstood, sorry:-)Then I can do Caskey, Noelle. “Interpreting Anorexia Nervosa”.
|Séllei Nóra||2010-01-23 20:19:31|
|Kriszti (and everyone),|
Could you, please, choose a text for presentation that is not required for everyone? You can even choose one that is required for PhD students (but only recommended for MA students). It may not have been clear -- sorry. (Also, (un)fortunately(?), I have changed the syllabus since its first uploading, reducing PhD-students' workload, and perhaps the status of the Boskind-Lodahl text has changed in the meantime. But now it is required for all.)
|Kovács Kriszti||2010-01-22 20:06:52|
I chose Anorexia as a presentation topic for the course Women and Madness (that is week 10, 13th April). The reading I would like to present is Boskind-Lodahl's text, “Cinderella’ Stepsisters: A Feminist Pesrpective on Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia”.
Regards, Krisztina Kovács

|Dear All (or rather whoever is concerned: students registering for the Women and Madness MA/PhD course),|
You are kindly requested to consult the syllabus (available on th my "current courses" website), choose a recommended secondary reading for presentation, and to sign up for your course presentations on this forum. In this way, everyone involved will see which texts are still (or no longer) available for presentation purposes.
Thanks for your co-operation, and hoping this format will work,
