Norbert Krek is a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. The topic of his PhD research is the genre awareness of fantasy isometric role-playing games in the context of nostalgia. He majored in Hungarian linguistics and literature and obtained his MA degree in 2018. The focus of his thesis was the mnemonic structures of World War II in first person shooters. His primary field of interests include game studies, cultural memory, nostalgia, and popular culture. He is a member of the Tabletop Role-Playing Game Research Group at the Department of Communications and Media Studies, University of Debrecen.
