Several students from our BA, MA/OMA and PhD programs will have the opportunity to attend a series of linguistics events at Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic on June 7-11, 2023 in the framework of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP). Here’s a brief description of the program.
The Blended Intensive Program Language Use and Linguistic Structure: Bringing Comparative and Empirical Studies Together brings together experts in the field of linguistics from Germany (Friedrich Schiller University Jena), Hungary (University of Debrecen) and the Czech Republic (Palacký University Olomouc), who will organize three specialized linguistic workshops intended for linguists and students of linguistics. There will also be two methodological lessons on empirical methods in linguistics. The whole event is coordinated and hosted by Palacký University Olomouc.
Tentative schedule:
- Day 1: Empirical methods in linguistics (part IA), 2 teaching units
- Day 2: Workshop 1 (The grammar of results / Deictics and Demonstratives: Comparative and Empirical Approaches / Acquiring speech sounds and prosody in childhood and adulthood)
- Day 3: Workshop 2 (The grammar of results / Deictics and Demonstratives: Comparative and Empirical Approaches / Acquiring speech sounds and prosody in childhood and adulthood)
- Day 4: Workshop 3 (The grammar of results / Deictics and Demonstratives: Comparative and Empirical Approaches / Acquiring speech sounds and prosody in childhood and adulthood)
- Day 5: Empirical methods in linguistics (part IB) / sightseeing (optional)
