She worked for the University of Debrecen from 1992 to 2015. She received her PhD degree in 2002. The title of her dissertation is Learner Strategies of Hungarian Secondary Grammar School Students. Her academic and research interests included: theories of language learning; language teaching approaches and methods; role of individual differences in second language acquisition; applied linguistics; sociolinguistics; gender and language use; language and culture; developing intercultural competence, teaching and researching language skills, mainly reading comprehension.
