It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden and unexpected passing of a dear colleague and friend, Pál Lieli.
Pali bácsi, as we all knew him, spent his professional career at our university, and he was a member of the Institute of English and American studies since 1993. He was both a very popular teacher and a colleague, with a warm and delightful personality. He was an active instructor and scholar even after his retirement, and a regular participant at our scholarly and social events. His love of music and his musical performances made many of these events memorable.
Not long ago we celebrated the completion of his 100th semester as an instructor at our university. Never did it occur to us that we will not be able to meet him again this summer.
We will miss him deeply.
