Amira Dhifallah - Collective nouns in English and Arabic: A comparative study
This presentation will provide an overview of my PhD project including my research objectives and methodology. This research will present a parallel study on collective nouns in English and Arabic -and its regional varieties, like Tunisian Arabic- in an attempt to establish a better understanding of the description and use of true collectives and to provide more precise boundaries for this noun class.

Tamari Narimanishvili - Cross-linguistic influence on figurative Language in second language (L2) production
In this presentation, I will give an overview of the work I have done so far. The first part of the talk will focus on reviewing the literature about the role of L1 in influencing figurative language (FL), particularly the factors influencing FL comprehension and production. The second part of the presentation will provide details of my ongoing research project: The Influence of the L1 on figurative language use in essay writing among Georgian learners of English.
