The DokLing talk series provides an online discussion forum for PhD students of theoretical linguistics, taken broadly to encompass the description and explanation of linguistic phenomena.
Our event seeks to bring together junior and senior researchers interested in theoretical linguistics, independently of theoretical framework and broadly construed, comprising the description and explanation of phenomena in and at the interface of phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Topics may be approached synchronically or diachronically, from a disciplinary or from interdisciplinary angles, including the perspectives of language acquisition and psycholinguistics more generally.
There is always one talk per meeting. Each speaker is invited to give a 30-minute talk, which is followed by a 30-minute Q&A. The language of the talks is English or Hungarian.
DokLing is organized by the Theoretical Linguistics Working Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and hosted online by the Department of English Linguistics at the University of Debrecen.
