My main research interests lie in cross-cultural pragmatics, with a special focus on speech act theory and politeness theories. More specifically, I am interested in the inter- and intra-cultural variation in the linguistic production and assessment of (im)politeness in utterances and larger chunks of discourse across a variety of speech events. My most recent publication is a paper titled "Conceptualizations and evaluations of (im)politeness in Syrian Arabic," which appeared in the Journal of Politeness Research.
