Certificates for their top-quality efforts in the field of studying Chinese language and culture have been awarded to the students of the University of Debrecen (UD) and Debrecen’s Vocational Training Centre (Debreceni Szakképzési Centrum - DSZC) by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Hungary. His Excellency Gong Tao gave a reception to the honored students and their teachers at his residence in Budapest on Saturday.
Three faculties, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Informatics and the Faculty of Humanities, of the University of Debrecen were represented at a conference called CogInfoCom (Cognitive infocommunications) at Chuo University, Japan, which was attended by academics from universities located on several continents. This event primarily focused on the potential of merging human and digital environments, artificial intelligence, info-communication and cognitive skills.
A delegation from the University of Debrecen (UD) was also invited to Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) in China to join the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the host institution. During the official visit, the leaders of the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding on launching a Chinese major program in Debrecen, while a Confucius Institutes Partnership Association, established this time by TFSU, was also joined by UD.
Study abroad, internships and research practices, intensive courses, language courses, summer schools and scholarships, i.e. everything related to studying abroad and student mobility was offered at one location, at the University of Debrecen's Foreign Affairs Exchange. This year, it is for the 26th time that International Office and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Student Self-Government organized their annual information day, where 15 exhibitors were looking forward to answering questions from interested visitors in the inner courtyard of the Main Building.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the launching of the Polish program, the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (UD) hosted an alumni meeting in connection with the Alumni Festival. At the event, held on Saturday in the building of University Church, former students and lecturers recalled memorable moments of the past decades.

DEL's György Rákosi was awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for his outstanding scientific achievements as a Bolyai Grant winner between 2020-2023.
Gábor Pusztai, head of Dutch Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (DE), has received a prestigious Dutch award. The Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau (Knight of the Order of Oranje-Nassau) was presented by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Hungary on behalf of King William-Andrian.
